Athletics Minimize

This year we haven’t had many meetings in which we could enter our athletes. The East London City schools meeting did not take place and we sent limited athletes to the District Meeting on 21 February. This meant that we only had to enter two athletes per event, leaving behind a number of athletes. This makes it difficult for athletes to qualify for sports awards as they have to meet qualifying criteria at least twice in official meetings. Four of our athletes qualified to represent Amathole District at the Eastern Cape Championships held in Port Elizabeth on 20/21 March. The results were as follows:

At our annual Interhouse Sportsday a number of our athletes featured in various events:
Monalisa Ntshele – Best u/19 athlete
Eden Smith -  Best U/16 Athlete and  won Vitrix Ludorum
Tabisa Sowazi - Best U/15 Athlete
Lindsay Killeen – Best U/14  Athlete

At our annual Summer Sports Awards the following awards were presented:

I would like to thank all the coaches for the time they put into athletics. Special thanks go to our outside coaches, Mrs Linda Killeen who helped with throws, and Mr. Bert De Wilzen who helped with High Jump.
